AZ Sec. of State Bennett clearly overstepping his legal authority

AZ Daily Star Editorial makes it clear that SoS Bennett has overstepped his legal authority in trying to verify President Obama’s birth certificate.

To make matters worse, he clearly has a conflict of interest even if he had the authority to take this action. If he really thought he had the authoirty, he should have immediately declared his conflict of interest and asked a county-level elections official or the AGs office to make the request from Hawaii.

Overstepping authority is nothing new for Arizona Republican elected officials, but we should expect that the person who is in charge of elections to be beyond reproach. Impeachment would be a serious option here if it weren’t for the fact that a majority of the legislators in the majority party are just as guilty of overstepping their authority too. Hell, half of them are probably applauding the action.
